Eintracht Frankfurt - Nurnberg

#

FRANKFURT, August 27 (Bundesliga) - Jermaine Jones' solitary strike was enough to earn Eintracht Frankfurt victory over Nurnberg in the Bundesliga.

Jones' delectable volley mid-way through the second-half was worthy of winning any match.

The defeat for Nurnberg means they are still without a win in the Bundesliga this season.

It was a game of few chances as Nurnberg came with the intention of containing and stifling the Frankfurt attack.

And for a period it seemed to work, as the home side failed to find the craft and imagination needed to break down the well-drilled Nurnberg rearguard.

However, the best chances of a dour first half were constructed by Frankfurt, but they failed to display any clinical finishing.

Benjamin Kohler was the architect of the first opening after he delivered a cross for Benjamin Huggel but his header went woefully wide.

Moments later, Alexander Meier was presented with best chance of the half but his header was repelled by the acrobatic Raphael Schafer in the Nurnberg goal.

Chances were again severely limited in the second half, however, the few that were created inevitably fell to the home side as they showed the greater desire to break the deadlock.

Kohler unwittingly nearly gave timid Nurnberg the lead when he over hit a back-pass that cannoned off the post and luckily out of play.

That lack of concentration appeared to momentarily revive Nurnberg as substitute Stefan Kiessling, who added some much needed impetus to their attack, found Lars Muller but his shot was well saved by Oka Nikolov.

The winning goal came when Ioannis Amanatidis' corner was nonchalantly dispatched home by Jones to illuminate an otherwise drab fixture.

Amanatidis also had a chance to add his name to the scoresheet but he spurned his opportunity to extend the lead.

I think Vasoski was the best player.
