In the german forums frankfurt supporters are debating about funkels future in frankfurt. After a lots of bad games, no development in the team and a lots of bad transfers, frankfurt could probably do a descent after this season. Currently the team is playing without passion, communication and also without spiritedness. Furthermore I can see NO progress with Funkel as our coach, in contrast to other clubs they had fired their coachs already, after such bad results. But the CEO and the management of Eintracht Frankfurt belive in him, please stop dreaming and also stop demotivating the team, by saying we cant afford more then 9. position in the table...
I would say its time to go funkel, your time is over and its TIME FOR A CHANGE.
Thanks for your great work here in Frankfurt, best wishes for the future.

PS: I hope I could inform, with this little paragraph, some foreign supporters of Frankfurt. I hope I could tell you the actual situation of our Team and how it looks like for the German fans of Frankfurt.

Sorry, but this hope has not been fulfilled. You gave the foreign supporters your very own view of the situation, and that of a parts of the fan scene. But thank god there's others who appreciate the good work of the club and it's officials as well as the fact that we had a terrible season in terms of injuries (15 operations and other serious injuries).
Isnt that the point of this Forum? "Your opinion about the eagles" is the title.
I think that everyone out there has to realize that the managements team responsibility is to build a team that can compete for points every week. I say this becuase management should be able to field a team every week that is competitive and not rely on only a couple of people so when injuries do come, which happens to every team, they can still field a competitive team. I for one have not been a fan of Herr Funkel and Bruchagen as it IS there job to do this and since he has been in charge there has been little success at that. I am sure that everyone knows this from my previous posts.
In addition, when ever Eintracht develops players that are quality they are let to go somewhere else. I give you the example of Streit, Jones, and now Fink. Marin was also in our youth squads and is now in Borrusia! It is management responsibility to field a competitive team at all times and not rely on the "Injuries" or "Bad Luck" excuses.
Now with that said from a coaching perspective I have never been a fan of Funkel style of play and coaching as it is boring and uninspiring. I would rather go down swinging that to sit back and hope for a good counter attack. But this we can not criticize him on as he has always been that way and we should know that by now. Maybe this is why players come and go. I dont know as I am not in the locker room so that is something to debate. It is very similar to watching the Italian National team play in the 2006 WC but without the trophy. :neutral-face :neutral-face
Also, is there anyone out there that is a capable manager? I have this debate with my Bayern and Hamburg fans every Saturday morning and there really isnt anyone to replace him that Frankfurt would hire. I dont know this as I dont get to see all the games and read all the articles as there is not much information available in the states and unfortunately my German is not as good as it used to be so it takes a lot longer to read the German commentary.
I was referring to the line I quoted and that sounded like the view in the post is the view of the entire 'German fans of Frankfurt' - which it aint. Of course anyone can let loose what she or he thinks.
We rejoined the Bundesliga 4 years ago and have since been improving more or less each year (including cup final and UEFA Cup). Other fanbases would be more than happy to be in our situation and in fact laugh about what is going on in our fan scene. You have to see who we are, where we come from and what financial situation we are in. All that plus the injuries (come on, if you're coaching yourself you must know that 15 OPs in one season are loads! That's not mentioning little ones and bans...) proves that with where we are in the table we have a competitive team. We never lost to a direct competitor!
Players come, players go, especially if they can earn more elswhere. That has always been the case and it always will be. I am happy that we do not have the serious budget troubles anymore which nearly finished the club not too long ago! People seem to forget that.
I guess we can agree to disagree. I just think back to when we competed regularly in Europe and won UEFA and wonder when this will happen again. In three of the fours years (in the Bundesliga) that Funkel/Bruchagen team has been in command we have been in relegation battles until the last couple of weeks. Yes we were in Europe and the cup final having a good year once every 4 years is not a great result and someone should be held accountable for that. You have to admit that these results are not stellar? Especially for the history that Eintracht has and the quality of its fan base.
There you go, Eintracht is financially stable, but hasn't got the dosh to attack the top third of Bundesliga clubs. Hence we're in the lower mid table region, which aint glorious but I'll take that over games against Oberhausen, Ingolstadt or Greuther Fuerth. How can you seriously be asking for reaching the EC when we only got promoted 4 years ago?
Of course we have a great tradition and European glory, but too many people seem to live in the past. Look at Moenchengladbah, or Koeln or Nuernberg - big cluns with a great tradition also, but struggeling.
I'm just glad that we are in safety now!!! And I'd like to put that horrorshow season behind me....

Just my humble opinion......

Times have changed unfortunately. 26 years ago today Aberdeen beat Real Madrid to win the European Cup Winners Cup
Money talks........
Isn't that the truth....
