What were the greatest moments with Funkel in the last 5 years?
What was his biggest mistake?
Will our next coach stay 5 years (or even longer) as well?
Which player will be sad, which one will be happy that he left?
Let us start a discussion about Friedhelm Funkel without the last months' question whether he should stay or not. Let us compare our views and share with the other supporters how we feel about the change.
Did the supporters treat him fair? I think he did well getting the team back into the Bundesliga but for me it was like groundhogs day.... Every game was the same story.
Was it the right decision to let him go? Yes it was, time to bring new ideas and a new playing style to the club.
What were the greatest moments with Funkel in the last 5 years? Had to be making it back in the Bundesliga and to the final of the German Trophy
What was his biggest mistake? Not playing Caio without a doubt.
Will our next coach stay 5 years (or even longer) as well? Nope.....
Which player will be sad, which one will be happy that he left? Well I think Caio will be happy that he is gone and I think Proell will be sad that he is gone.
I think overall you have to treat his time with Eintracht as a moderate success. He did guide the team out of the 2nd league and managed to get to Europe. I think that they were fairly competitive in the Bundesliga but at the end of the day the results never really panned out.
Did the supporters treat him fair?
As I dont know all the goings on I think I will refrain from this question.
Was it the right decision to let him go?
Yes, it was time for change. We need to progress in development and the bundesliga results at the end of the season did not show that. Again, 4 years as a coach is a long time and it is important to bring change every once in a while.
What were the greatest moments with Funkel in the last 5 years?
Promotion to the Bundesliga, UEFA competition, and the Pokal Finale
What was his biggest mistake?
I am not sure if this is his mistake or the organizations but not getting players that match the system that Funkel would like to play. Caio without a doubt is one of these players. I think that the manager should be able to sign players and I am thinking that this was not the case. It seems that it was managerment that decided on who to sign and who to keep. As „the Tuna“ said you cant expect a chef to cook a gourmet meal if you dont let him shop for the groceries.
Will our next coach stay 5 years (or even longer) as well?
Highly Doubt it.
Which player will be sad, which one will be happy that he left?
i consider the 5 years as a very successful time and i am not in a position to imagine what happened if the management decided to replace funkel earlier. we are now living in the 21st century... people use to forget that times have changed.....in 1992 it was easier to qualify for the european competitions...... in my opinion neither skibbe nor any other coach can guarantee that, so we should be grateful for the developement and cross the fingers for the next season...
