arytsy schrieb:Which is really true. Last time we got relegated we collected 26 points before the winter break. I really appreciate the buzz around Eintracht at the moment, but in the end I'd be totally cool with a season that ends without any worries somewhere in the middle of the table. Of course a bit more won't hurt, but it's not the time to think about those things right now.
"But first we have to reach the 40 points."
arytsy schrieb:Indeed the subs delivered! Every piece falls into place at the moment, it's really a time to appreciate in various ways. Let's collect as many points as possible and then see where it takes us. We brought quite a distance between us and the relegation zone, that's all that matters at the moment.
What a great match against Bremen! The Eintracht passing game was a class of its own, Hradecky saved a few tricky shots and the subs delivered 100%.
Hradecky by the way also played one horrible pass right to a Bremen attacker. Nothing we're used to see, but it happens - so everyone forgives him. And he also kept the ball out with an outstanding reflex.
arytsy schrieb:Absolutely. Kovac is taking pretty much everyone to a different level right now. But also Bobic and others are doing their homework right now. Speaking about the players: Abraham just signed a new contract, some others still have a year or more to go. Chandler's contract is expiring though, I think he might sign a new one before the second half of the season - at least I'm hoping for it. Seferovic is a free-agent at the end of this season too, but talks are ongoing. If possible we should also held talks with players who's contracts are ending after next season, players like Hradecky or Oczipka. Those are really important players, it would be great to have them stay with us a bit longer asap.
I agree, the team has a whole new attitude this season. Kovac has made a world of difference. I hope he and some of the great new players stay with the SGE.
arytsy schrieb:We couldn't complain if they scored in the second half. So I'm very happy with the three points, that's for sure. But it's a certain type of quality to actually win a match like this one. For most of the last season I am pretty sure we would have conceded the equalizer back then, just to say the least. Kovac is doing a superb job at the moment, it feels like he's getting into the player's heads, which is very important to built a unity and have everyone on board. Of course he demands a lot, but the lads see where it takes them. So we're in a really good situation at the moment, not to forget about the 18 points we picked up already.
A tough match against Köln! The last minutes were almost impossible to watch! Fortunately Köln couldn't get the equalizer.
It's going to be very interesting to see how the match against Bremen will turn out on Sunday. They have a few guys with a good quality apparently coming back from injuries (Pizzaro, Kruse, Bargfrede) and they need to pick up some points as they are pretty much in the same spot like they were during most of last season. On the other hand we had 4 (!) matches in a row without conceding any goals (3 league, 1 cup), so the team will for sure try to continue this run. This is going to be interesting...

arytsy schrieb:Rebic showed some great passion and skills. Also Vallejo in defense was really good, you would never believe the kid is just 19 years old. Great potential. And Fabian delivered an all-over stellar performance with one assist and the winning goal. Really cool with the ball on his feet, he popped up literally everywhere on the pitch and covered the greatest distance of all players of the pitch. And yeah, Alex Meier as usual I'd say? Hope we can also pick up a point of three in Ingolstadt, even though it's already a tradition that we fail after a match like the one we played against Leverkusen.
Great win against Leverkusen! Here are the vital stats. SGE was better in aerial duels (60%/40%), total shots (17/7), shots accuracy (47%/43%), interceptions (32/17) and total crosses (12/7).
Gacinovic was a slight disappointment. Rebic looked like a promising replacement.
arytsy schrieb:Not only better in stats, they played better all along. Well, they were also the only ones playing some actual football, Darmstadt never really interested in anything but destroying and defending with all they had. The goal was a bloody joke, intentionally it was a cross from the right wing which he (Sirigu) accidentally put on goal. In fact he got the "ultimate bonus" for not being able to do proper crossing. Such a frustrating afternoon, it's ridiculous not to win this match. The Universe has a weird sense of humor...
Can't get my head around the fact that SGE won against Schalke and lost to Darmstadt. Anyway, the stats show that Frankfurt was better in possession, shots, passes and pass accuracy. Darmstadt won in duels, tackles, clearences, interceptions and, sadly, goals.
Zicolov schrieb:Yeah, there was definitely some bad luck for SGE. Still, they had nice opportunities to score, but unfortunately those didn't work out.

arytsy schrieb:Could have been easy, I remember two situations where they should've just passed the ball over to Alex Meier who could have scored easily. If we're 1:0 in front once we will 100% win this match because Darmstadt had NOTHING to offer offensively. It was just kick and rush, without the actual rush. Just kicking the ball as far away from their own penalty area as possible and hope it won't come back too soon.
Still, they had nice opportunities to score, but unfortunately those didn't work out.
dc_edinburg schrieb:To me it was actually Darmstadt who settled. Starting with the kick off . I mean they took off Ben-Hatira after 80 minutes who was their only player trying to play some actual football. And brought on a defender instead, so you know exactly what they were aiming for. There's no logic behind them winning this match 1:0, not even the goal scoring shot was supposed to be a shot on goal (their only one btw). He (Sirigu) tried to cross the ball into the box and scored a goal just because he wasn't even able to deliver proper crossing. This is ridiculous, isn't it? Christ...
It looked to me like they had settled for a draw in the second half and got punished......by a bad cross.

Matchday 3 won't be a easy against Leverkusen...

arytsy schrieb:Absolutely, not to forget Abraham and Hector, who did a great job before being send off. Most important was the team-effort this afternoon, the attitude, the fighting spirit. Hope we'll keep up this great work!
I'd list Hradecky, Meier, Hrgota, Chandler and Gacinovic as the top five players.

"Eintracht beat Celta de Vigo 3-1 (2-0) and win the Frankfurt Main Finance Cup. New signing Branimir Hrgota was responsible for SGE’s two-goal lead (11’, 49’). Eintracht controlled the match right from the start. Especially the new signing from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Branimir Hrgota, got a hold of the ball twice and was responsible for SGE’s first two attempts."
In my book Hrgota was a big positive in that match. I also liked the way Oczipka played. Can we hope for a good season in the Bundesliga?

Many fans in Frankfurt secretly study the European club map again. It seems to be no different in the team. "We dream," said goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky. The obligatory "but" followed naturally on the foot: "But first we have to reach the 40 points."
