A successful start.

The first testmatch of the season was easily won with 11:0 (5:0) against “Sportfreunde Oberau” (a local district league club). Supported by 1500 spectator’s newcomer Christian Lenze opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a 22 meter shot into the net. Scorers Markus Beierle (2), Markus Kreuz and Torben Hoffmann made way to the 5:0 half time lead.

Coach Funkel substituted almost the entire team in the second half. Mehmet Dragusha (3), Nico Frommer (2) and Alexander Meier scored six times to end the match with a clear 11:0 victory.

After the match the team made their way to the training campus in Austria.

Team 1st Half:
Pröll - Huber, Hoffmann, Puljiz (ab 32. Husterer), Reinhard - Lenze, Schur, Kreuz, Dragusha - Beierle, Köhler

Team 2nd Half:
Nikolov - Ochs, Hoffmann, Husterer, Wiedener - Lenze, Cimen, Meier, Dragusha - Van Lent, Frommer

Good luck to all.

The season is about to begin.

Well, it seems the team is now complete and training started yesterday (2nd of July). By the way, the first match will be held on Sunday 8th of August in Aachen.

Some news about the Team:

The Goalkeepers remain unchanged, unclear however is who will carry the number “1” Nikolov or Pröll. Andreas Menger will remain substitute.

Defence: Jens Keller, a key figure in the team since the season 2002/03 is finally rehabilitated after an injury early last season. It is unclear if he will support the team from the bench or the pitch. Defence newcomers are: Marco Russ, Patrick Ochs, Markus Husterer and Torben Hoffman. Andree Wiedener and Christian Hening are still will the team.

Midfield: Markus Weissenberger joined this season and seems a very promising figure. Also transferred were Christian Lenze, and Alexander Meier. Stefan Lexa and Alexander Schur remain true to the Eagles. A question still to be answered is the future of Markus Kreuz. He is still sorting some differences with Coach Funkel. It seems however obvious that he wants to leave Frankfurt.

Offence: Markus Beierle, Du-Ri Cha and Nico Frommer got some support with Arie Van Lent and Benjamin Köhler.

The Coach reported that he is not willing to name a regular team just yet. He plans to work with the squad a while longer and then make his decisions.

The Coach:

After some initial differences amongst the supporters, they came to accept Funkel as a capable Coach and started to support him. A supporter from Cologne (his former Club 1. FC Köln) even posted a message in the Eintracht forum to plead to support Funkel. It seems that he was misunderstood and disliked by the Cologne Fans.

Regrettably were the transfers of Amanatidis and Hertsch to Keiserslautern as well as the transfer of Preuß. He is most likely to join Bochum. Skela left the club for an unknown destination.

Our stadium is progressing in good speed. The roof is now being lifted. The stadium is due for completion in May 2005. On another note, Frankfurt will host the finals of the Confederations Cup in 2005.

Did I forget anything? Well, I’ll try to keep you guys posted and wish you a pleasant weekend.

Danke.

What exactly do you want to tell us? I could not sense any information from your posting, except that you felt like being abusive against the previous coach. He is gone and that's history. So this chapter has been closed. Before badmouthing the new coach, I would suggest to wait and see.

Hi,

Along Frankfurt also Köln (Cologne) and 1860 München were the losers of this season and went down to the 2nd league. In exchange the teams Nürnberg, Bielefeld and Mainz rose up to the 1st league.

A lot has happened since the end of the season. The Coach was sacked and we are still looking for a successor. Just yesterday the former Hannover Coach “Rangnick” turned down the offer. So the Club is back to square one.

Amanatidis has left the Club for Kaiserslautern with the reason that he did not want to play in the 2nd league. Same with Hertsch, Skela and Preuß. Preuß is most probably joining Mainz (newcomer from the 2nd to the 1st league.)

You may already know that “Van Lent” a new offensive player from Mönchengladbach joined the team. Only today midfielder Weissenberger transferred from 1860 München. The offensive player Copado from Unterhaching signed up but is due to start only in the season 2005/06. Frankfurt is still trying to hire him starting this season.

The Management of the Eintracht Frankfurt keep things very quiet and try to release news once there are signed and sealed. This policy keeps a lot of room for gossip and speculation. Anyhow, a lot fans appreciate the works of the Management (by the way in place since the beginning of the season 2003/04) and trust that all will be well by (hopefully) the end of this month, i.e. Coach, Team, etc.

I’ll keep you posted via this thread as soon as any developments come up.

Hi Roland,

Interesting topic.... But what exactly do you want to tell us?

In this forum we try exchange, give or aquire useful information. I would suggest to post a topic once you meet the above criteria.

Well, to sum it all up the supporters are very much devided in their opinions.

Some already resigned and accepted the march downwards to the second devision.

The other half strongly believe that a miracle is still possible.

Then there is a division of opinion if the Coach should have been sacked or not. A lot of discussion on that point.

I sympathize with all fans as they are all very upset and even more disapointed.

If it counts, I also believe that Reimann should have left after his suspension. I also hold Bruchhagen personally responsible for not terminating him then and there. (See thread "Should Reimann resign?")

Re: Waldo Dutra,

As far as I was able to find out, no one realy knows Waldemar Dutra. Some believe he was here in Frankfurt sometime in 2002. The last information available is that he was/is playing with "Calgary Storm". See link.

@Canuk: Well, the department for Supporter Affairs require at least 5 members to establish a fan club. "Manuela50" was so kind to enclose a link to the form that requires completion.

As mentioned, if you need assistance give me a shout.

I was looking for international Eintracht fan clubs but I could not find any.  Does anybody know if suchs clubs exist?
How can we set up an offical supporters club here in Canada?

Not sure what the regulations are in Canada. But if it helps you may want to contact some of our local Fan-Clubs in Germany.

If you face a language barrier, let me know and I gladly help.
