I find it weird to see Inanmoto playing wing when he was so good at Central Defensive Midfield last year. Has anyone heard if this is the plan for the year or that Funkel played him there to counter Reals wingers?
Also curios to see what people thought of the game. I was really impressed by the speed of the counter attacks. This was really nice to see. I think Steinhoffer played well and am really impressed with Haibib. Although he was muscled out on the goal by Robben (I think it was him) and that is something that he should work on. Overall I was impressed and have great expectations for the year. Nikolov played great also!!!
What are your opionions about the game?

I think that they should do better this year by several spots but it depends on a few things.
Firstly, I think Funkel needs to change some of his tactics and instill a killer instinct in the players. Last year we were 10-19-5 (+4 GD) at the half while finishing 12-10-12 (-7 GD). We need to STOP giving up points in the second half.
Secondly, with Fenin for the year maybe they can put more pressure on the opposing team and scoring that final goal. In addition, adding Umit and Habib may pay dividends. I am very excited to see Fenin for the whole season and also the addition of habib will be nice to see. I have read many good things about the player to replace Gallas on the French team. I kust hope he can adjust quickly.

What is everyones thoughts on this upcoming season. I am hoping for a more successfull season this year having contention for European places. I dont think that they can contend for the title but anywhere from 4-8 would be a good expectation, what do you think?

Markus Pröll is injured again, this is really getting old. we should start calling him the glasmann. He is always broken. I hope Oka is ready for the season.
My family is also from the Little Manhattan also and I have lived there in the early 90’s for 2 years. Was hooked ever since seeing Yeboah play. Plus you have the Ostkurv with the best fans ever. Who else do you want to follow…

Has there been any news about Sotiros? Last time I heard that there was ineterest from Betis. Any news about this?
We have know lost 6 of the last 7 with the 1 being a tie. This is very disappointing as we were in contention for Europe not so long ago. This streak is a very bitter pill to swallow and although overall this season was good the ending is very very bad. Hopefully this is not an indicator of the future.
I am very confused as to the latest actions. When they were getting blown out against Stuttgart he brought in Mahdavakia and also Inamoto and this seems to be odd as it was a good time to get some experience.

This is terrific news, if he stays I really dont see a huge need to sign anyone, we can develop the youngsters that we have as there will still be alot of experience with Ama, Sotiros, Inamoto, and spycher up the middle. I just hope that we become a bit more offensive especially in the 2nd half.

Frankfurt defender Christoph Spycher has extended his contract with Eintracht until June 30, 2010.
I think that ends the question about Spycher. The more I think about it we will need a good veteran to replace Sotiros. This is really a big loss and will need to be addressed.

As for Odonkor, he would be good if he came cheap as he would put pressurre on opposing defences becuase they must defend him. In addition it would help out the defense to. It is just an idea.

I have been thinking of this question and I had thought of this person and he would be a good fit for the other winger. How about David Odonkor, with a front of Ama and Fenin/Odonkor on the wings you would have something to deal with. Odonkor has only started 5 games and with no goals he may be wanting to come back to the Germany. Especially if her wants to compete for a spot in the Nationalmannschaft. He may come cheap because of that. I know it is a reach but what a front three that would be!!!
I agree with Alex, Spycher plays solid albeit not spectacular and is a good influence. A veteran striker may be nice but I dont think is needed especially if we have to pay for them. A free transfer would be the only way. With ama and fenin you have a good core. Caio can also play there so maybe another role player in the forward position.

(1) I dont think he can inspire the team as (atleast last year) where unable to maintain points. There were several times last year we were ahead at half but could not maintain the lead. We were 10-19-5 at halftime, but finished 10-12-10. We are giving up to many points in the second half. This also points to your comment about substitutions. It is up to the coach to motivate to score the second half.
(2) I dont like his line-ups as I think he should put a more aggressive plan in play. I would rather lose if we are trying hard than lose when we are trying to salvage a tie or hold onto a 1 goal lead. I think he should play Fenin and Ama up top with Steinhofer on the wings. This was not the case on Sunday. Plus I really think that we should get someone with a lot of speed on the other wing to put pressure on other teams defense and also to add to the transition game.
lastly, does anyone know why Inamoto was not playing?
