Borussia Dortmund will equal their club record for the longest winning run with a victory over Eintracht Frankfurt tomorrow.
The Dortmund side set their current record of six successive wins in the 2001/02 season.
Jurgen Klopp's side have triumphed in their last five matches, and the coach is keen to continue that run.
"I have never won six straight, I have only lost seven in a row,'' Klopp said.
"The winning streak makes us feel good, but it doesn't help at all if the focus is not on the next match.
"We must not give up the good position we have earned in recent matches. The team realise their investment is paying off.''
The winning run has moved seventh-placed Dortmund within five points of a Europa League spot.
"We will try all we can to generate an extra income for the club (by playing in Europe),'' club captain Sebastian Kehl said.
With Mats Hummels the only absentee due to an ankle injury, Klopp is expected to field the same starting line-up for the fifth match in succession.
Eintracht coach Friedhelm Funkel has a far bigger selection headache, though.
Christoph Preuss, Aleksandar Vasoski, Juvhel Tsoumou, Benjamin Kohler (all knee), Leonard Kweuke (hip), Ioannis Amanatidis (unfit), Junichi Inamoto (calf), Ellery Caio (thigh) and Kreso Ljubicic (broken nose) are all unavailable.
In addition, Patrick Ochs and Michael Fink are suspended.
The injury situation has left Funkel in defiant mood.
"We will find 15 players for the teamsheet,'' he said.
"We have every chance of beating Dortmund. They are not a vastly superior team.''
Frankfurt are sitting in 11th spot, seven points above the drop zone.

Here is the preview from Goal.com - I like there prediction
Eintracht Frankfurt – Energie Cottbus
Energie Cottbus currently occupy one of the bottom two spaces in the table so need to start winning matches to lift themselves out of the drop-zone. Trainer Bojan Prasnikar succeeded in rescuing the Lausitzer last season, but it remains to be seen whether he can work his magic again this season.
Frankfurt seem poised for yet another mid-table finish, which considering the appalling injury crisis they suffered earlier in the season is no mean feat.
Prediction: Frankfurt 2-1 Cottbus

sorry, 6 pointer.
I sure hope he goes with Oka, I have more confidence when he is in goal. Also, it will be nice to see Libero back up top, maybe he can score a couple and take the 5 pointer for the Adler.....

Friedhelm Funkel has yet to decide whether Oka Nikolov or Markus Proll will feature in the must-win home game against 17th-placed Energie Cottbus.
Having changed the starting goalkeeper three times already this season, Funkel said he will wait until match day to make a final decision.
"Sometimes things have happened during the night so I will take my time with this,'' Funkel said.
Three weeks ago he had named Nikolov as starter for the rest of the season, only for him to suffer a thigh injury.
"I am fully fit again and I want to regain my starting spot,'' Nikolov said.
Frankfurt are currently 12th in the table and looking to further distance themselves from the drop zone, but Cottbus goalkeeper Georg Tremmel knows that Saturday's clash will be a crucial one for the East Germans.
"This match day can point the way for the remainder of the season,'' he said.
"Bielefeld play Schalke, Gladbach face Karlsruhe; if things go badly, we could be five points behind the 16th spot.
"But if things go well we will be one point above the drop zone. This certainly is a six-point weekend.''
Cottbus will be without injured trio Mariusz Kukielka, Vragel da Silva and Marco Kurth but skipper Timo Rost is expected to shake off ankle problems in time to feature.
Eintracht will be missing Aleksandar Vasoski, Ioannis Amanatidis, Christoph Spycher, Christoph Preuss (all knee) and Leonard Kweuke (thigh).
Nikos Liberopoulos looks set to return to the starting XI following a toe injury.

It seems that Mr. Zlatan Bajramovic has scored a goal for his national team. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come.
I see that he is shortly to make his debut and I dont really know much about this individual. It seems that he is an central attacking midfielder from what I have seen which I think would be a bonus for us or would he slot in right behind a forward in a 4-4-1-1. It seems that is what funkel would prefer with the injuries up front. Can anyone discuss a bit more. Any ideas how he played at Schalke? Seems that he is highly thought of in the Bosnian national team.....
Also, anyone know how bad of an injury for Nikolov. It was said to see him taken out of the game last week as he was playing well the previous couple of weeks.

Yanazar,
Clearly you missed the point of the post, it is not meant for you to question my faith in the team as my last sentence states „I surely hope that I am wrong at this“ but at sometime you have to face reality that they are not playing well right now. The fact that I am posting this to spark discussion proves this point as if I have given up I would not be doing anything. I want to promote a discussion in what can be done and what other people think.
But if you need additional testimony to my devotion of Eintracht you need to come and sit with me every Saturday morning when I watch the games with all the Bayern, Hamburg, and Hertha fans here in the Miami at 8 in the morning. All I hear from them is Tabelfuhrer this and Tabelfurher and how nice it is to win and compete in Europe, but I still come back so please do not test me.
If you a so brave please post what you think the results will bear and as you have predicted that they will be in 12th place at the end of the year it can not be much different from what I have stated. May I remind you I was very optimistic and placed them at 5th at the end of year. If that is not confidence in the team I dont know what is.

I wanted to wait a bit to allow myself to cool down prior to writing this but I thought that the time has come. I am deeply worried about eintrachts prospects of staying in the bundesliga next year. After only getting 1 point in the past two games at home which I thought we would have to win both or atleast get 4 points from.
I looked at the remaining schedule and I can not see that they are going to score more than 11 or 12 points the rest of the season and that will be right in the midst of the relegation battle with 31 or 32 points. I find this down right embarassing when there is so much parity in the league and if they are relegated then both Funkel and Bruchhagen MUST go!!!! Clearly something is amis if year after year we are competing for survival instead of competing for trophies.
They bring in players that dont even play for millions (Caio, Mehdi, etc.) and then allow players to leave that make a contribution to other teams. (Jones, Marin, Streit, etc,) His reliance on young players is fine but you must keep and sign veterans to lead the way. I know that some of you say that we have good talent but if relegation does come Eintracht willl be in BIG trouble. I would see most of the players leave with immediate effect such as Ama, Fenin, Meier as they will not want to play in the 2 liga. I would be interested to see how many people of clauses in there contract to that avail that if relegated the contracts are relegated with immediate effect. Let me make this clear, I do not want this to happen but if it does it could take several years to return to the bundesliga.
Just wondering how others are feeling and see others predictions, mine are as follows. I think that they can throw in a surprise here and there and would not be surprised at that but my predictions are as they are playing now.

I just thought I would pass this on to our no German speakers/readers. Herr Funkels contract has been extended for one year to June 2010. With this contract he will become the longest tenured manager in Eintrachts history. He has been in place from July 2004 and will surpass the previous holder Erich Ribbeck who the manager from July 1968 to June 1973. He will pass him by a whooping total of 1 day
Heribert Bruchhagen said that Herr Funkel is the engine that drives Eintracht and he is reliable. In addition he said that the players do doubt him for a second.
I think this points in the direction that eintracht will be continuing in a dependable and reliable way...... Take that as you will.

Thanks Duke! It is odd that a keeper comes of the line anymore, nice to hear this is happening!
Getting back to the original question, I have been think about this and I definetly would go with Meier as a starter. He can stretch the field much better horizontally and that is something that I think we need to do better to create mismatches with Fenin and Libero. Ciao would be great to add inot the mix but who do you sit. I guess you could play 5 midfielders but then you have to sit either Fenin or Libero which I would not.

Meier is a proven quantity and as long as he is healthy I am guessing Her Funkel would pick him with Ciao off the bench almost any day. That would be my preference as they definetly controlled the ball and we much more the active side vs. Berlin and this is what I predict for Koln. Meier is much more consistent and can play on both sides of the pitch.
On a side note, I would prefer to see offensive startegy a Lahm type fullback that can make those long runs forward. I am not sure that we have someone like that but could Ciao or meier be able to do this? I dont think Ciao is capable but maybe Meier. Just wondering.
Also, anyone know why Proll was pulled and any comments on how Zimmerman played. Would be interested to hear others input.

The foreign Adlers are coming, it is only a matter of time until Eintracht wins its trophy

You should definently go to Sachsenhausen, it is an area with alot of bars and things to do at night. it is similar to Temple Bar in Dublin so you have an example.
Other than that alot has changed since my last pilgrimage to Frankfurt so I will have to defer to others.

Ok, I truly suck!!!
Anyone have some pointers on being good?

I dont think that you have much to worry about, I think Proll is gone o the first oppotunity and we will be better with Oka, Zimmerman next year with Farmann to come the following year to compete with Zimmermann. I have doubts on Zimmermann as a starter. If he was that good a quality he should have been pushing Proll & Oka for playing time during the season with all the injuries, either way I think that he will be kept on in one role or another.
I agree with Schobberobber, we dont want to keep anyones contract just because, you need to contribute on the pitch to be paid as the Bundesliga is just to talented to carry contracts. The money could well be spent on the next "Der Bomber" oder "der Kaiser"

I think that everyone out there has to realize that the managements team responsibility is to build a team that can compete for points every week. I say this becuase management should be able to field a team every week that is competitive and not rely on only a couple of people so when injuries do come, which happens to every team, they can still field a competitive team. I for one have not been a fan of Herr Funkel and Bruchagen as it IS there job to do this and since he has been in charge there has been little success at that. I am sure that everyone knows this from my previous posts.
In addition, when ever Eintracht develops players that are quality they are let to go somewhere else. I give you the example of Streit, Jones, and now Fink. Marin was also in our youth squads and is now in Borrusia! It is management responsibility to field a competitive team at all times and not rely on the "Injuries" or "Bad Luck" excuses.
Now with that said from a coaching perspective I have never been a fan of Funkel style of play and coaching as it is boring and uninspiring. I would rather go down swinging that to sit back and hope for a good counter attack. But this we can not criticize him on as he has always been that way and we should know that by now. Maybe this is why players come and go. I dont know as I am not in the locker room so that is something to debate. It is very similar to watching the Italian National team play in the 2006 WC but without the trophy. :neutral-face :neutral-face
Also, is there anyone out there that is a capable manager? I have this debate with my Bayern and Hamburg fans every Saturday morning and there really isnt anyone to replace him that Frankfurt would hire. I dont know this as I dont get to see all the games and read all the articles as there is not much information available in the states and unfortunately my German is not as good as it used to be so it takes a lot longer to read the German commentary.
Just my humble opinion......
